Exposure to Roundup weed killer has been linked to serious health risks, including certain forms of cancer. A class action settlement agreement has been announced in which Bayer, the parent corporation of Monsanto, would pay $7.25 billion to resolve Roundup litigation. The agreement is contingent upon court approval and allows Bayer to back out if too many class members opt out of the settlement.
The agreement identifies nine payment “tiers” for qualified plaintiffs, ranging from $10,000 to $165,000. The process for approval and payment of claims is set forth in the agreement. Bayer will fund the settlement over the course of 21 years to cover both existing and future claims.
